Rope Access Inspection (Pty) Ltd provides a training facility for IRATA International rope access, IWH fall arrest and rescue courses in Cape Town, South Africa.

All RAI’s trainers are first aid trained, NQF and IWH certified.Fall Arrest and Rescue

Due to the high incident rate and risk of falling in most industries , RAI has developed this course to meet the legal requirements of most countries.

The industries that benefit from our training are:

  • Oil & Gas (Drilling operators)
  • Petrochemical (Refining and Storage facilities)
  • Mining (Open cast and Underground)
  • Marine (Cargo, Container and Naval vessels)
  • Power Generation (Nuclear, Wind and Coal)
  • Construction (Contractors and Clients)

It will enable workers to safely use the appropriate PPE in the correct manner.

The training can either be provided at the clients location, or at RAI’s audited, purpose built training venue in Cape Town, South Africa.

Eskom FAS Rescue

The 2 day course will cover the theoretical & practical training for the following:

  • Legislative requirements ESKOM FAS
  • Rescue and rescue equipment
    • Rescue system and requirements
  • Hardware
    • Hardware safety, inspection, maintenance and legal requirements
    • Log instructions
  • Self-Rescue
    • Buddy Rescue (Rescuer can reach the fallen person directly)
    • Buddy Rescue (Remotely, cannot reach the fallen person directly)
  • Emergency response to fall arrest and the risks of suspension trauma
    • Risk factors
    • Signs and symptoms
    • Prevention

Requirements:

  1. Physically fit
  2. Must be at least 18 years old
  3. Be able to read and write English.
  4. Functioning literacy in English (or African language)

Valid for 3 years.


Fall Protection Planner (SAQA U/S 229994)

The 3 day course will cover the theoretical & practical training for the following:

  • Working at Height
    • Risk AssessmentFall Protection Planner
    • Introduction into working at heights
    • Fall protection
    • Risk and hazard identification
  • Fall arrest equipment and rescues
    • Working at height equipment
    • Rescue techniques and associated equipment
    • Equipment inspection and maintenance
  • Develop a Fall Protection and Arrest Plan
  • Health and safety compliance – Legislation
  • Fall protection plans
  • Manage safety of personnel working at height

Requirements:

  1. Physically fit
  2. Must be at least 18 years old
  3. Be able to read and write English to NQF level 3
  4. Functioning literacy in English (or African language)
  5. Must have SAQA 229995 / 229998 qualification (If not, then course will run over 5 days and include 229995 / 229998)

Valid for 3 years.


Basic Fall Arrest (SAQA U/S 229998)

The 1.5 day course will cover the theoretical & practical training for the following:Basic Fall Arrest

  • Safe work attitudes, work and fall arrest concepts and understanding
  • Selection of correct equipment
  • Inspection of PPE
  • Practical application of safe work methods
  • Benefits of working in team
  • The risk of suspension trauma and awaiting rescue

Requirements:

  1. Physically fit
  2. Must be at least 18 years old
  3. Be able to read and write English to NQF level 3
  4. Functioning literacy in English (or African language)

Valid for 3 years.


Fall Arrest and Basic Rescue (SAQA U/S 229995, 229998)Fall Arrest and Rescue

The 2.5 day course will cover the theoretical & practical training for the following:

  • Safe installation of life lines
  • The relevance of a fall protection plan
  • Emergency procedures
  • Rescue plan
  • Basic Single Person Rescue
  • Safe working procedures
  • The use of fall arrest equipment

 

Requirements:

  1. Physically fit
  2. Must be at least 18 years old
  3. Be able to read and write English to NQF level 3
  4. Functioning literacy in English (or African language)

Valid for 3 years.


Advanced Fall Arrest & Rescue (High Angle / ERT Teams) (SAQA U/S 229999)

The 5 day course (4 days and 1 day assessment) that will cover the theoretical & practical training for the following:

  • Legislative requirements and the rescue plan
  • Introduction to fall protection planning and risk assessmentAdvanced Fall Arrest & Rescue
  • Identification of advanced rescue and rope access equipment
  • Equipment safety, limitations and management including: inspection, maintenance and applicable standards
  • Basic rope access manoeuvres (abseil, climbing & safe change overs) for reaching a casualty
  • Identification of various advanced rescue scenarios with systems and requirements
  • Systems for hoisting a casualty using mechanical advantage and descending
  • Making use of diagonal tramways for transporting a casualty to safety
  • Emergency response to fall arrest and the risks of suspension trauma
  • Risk factors of suspension trauma
  • Casualty management and relevance of first aid and handover

Requirements:

  1. Fall Arrest & Basic Rescue (229998/5)
  2. Must be physically fit
  3. Must be at least 18 years old
  4. Be able to read and write English.
  5. Functioning literacy in English (or African language)

Valid for 3 years.
